  • Directed all educational programs, including hands-on interactive workshops, outreach programs, youth group programs, traveling educational exhibits, after-school programs, Pre-K special programs, sleepovers, and summer camps covering a wide variety of subject areas, from math and science to history and art.

  • Developed and facilitated programs that created new opportunities for girls to explore and engage in novel STEM programming.

  • Created “Fly Your Ride,” a flying car hybrid engineering competition. Teams built a vehicle, released it down a ramp, and tried to land it safely on the other side of the gap. Open to students in Grades 6-9, budget and material rules also meant that this competition was open to the widest possible audience, attracting hundreds of teams.

  • Created other competitions including “Green Skills For Life,” an environmental-themed competition where students showcased everyday differences they could make in our lives.

  • Developed teacher training programs in partnership with organizations such as NASA, San Diego State University, Fleet Science Center, Sally Ride Science, and University of California San Diego.

  • Oversaw museum social media by hiring and supervising the museum’s first social media coordinator, working with them on key strategies.

  • Created classes and interpretive programming tied to temporary exhibitions annually, plus educational exhibit guides.

  • Facilitated direct connections with NASA into content for education programming.

  • Created and organized special one-day festival-type events such as Space Day, with NASA and astronaut representation, plus inclusion in Balboa-Park-wide family days.

  • Worked with internal and external grant-writers to bring in needed funds for museum education.

  • Worked with local groups specializing in students with disabilities to promote and ensure greater inclusion in programming. Created programming which not only met and surpassed museum key targets of diversity, equity, and inclusion, but also pushed further to include a sense of belonging as a key audience and staff aim.
