Kids Are Fearless

I love the fearless imagination kids have.

I love the fearless imagination kids have.

This month has been one of the busiest in quite a while for giving talks, even though I am only leaving my house for (unrelated) volunteer work. This talking-online thing is taking on a whole new life.

Posted today, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics hosted a bunch of us space historians for a fun moderated panel discussion on what is on everyone’s minds this week — the first planned orbital flight from American soil in almost a decade. David Hitt, the moderator, is one of the best in the business.

MajorTim.space in the UK asked me to talk about Apollo 15 astronaut Al Worden. It was an opportunity to talk about some of the things I learned from him that were great life lessons in general.

And lastly — no link, as it was a live class, but I’ve placed a screenshot above — an online discussion with 4th graders about space. I looked at space models they are building and answered a bunch of their questions, mostly about the solar system. I love how kids are unafraid to ask anything about anything. Their curiosity is boundless, and I wish more adults had the fearless questioning they have.

Stay safe, and I encourage you to take advantage of these wonderful online opportunities everywhere.
